Overview Yau Mathematical Sciences Center (YMSC) was established in December 2009. Professor Shing-Tung Yau, Director of YMSC, the recipient of the Fields Medal, Crafoord Prize, Wolf Prize, Marcel Grossman Award and numerous other prestigious awards and honors is the director since its inception. YMSC aims to conduct teaching and research at the frontier of mathematical research, to promote international academic exchanges, to raise the level of mathematical research in China, and to develop into one of the premier mathematical research centers in the world. |
Highlights
Doctoral Program in Mathematics for International Students
YMSC has recruited over 70 outstanding faculty members and a large body of postdoctoral fellows and graduate students. Prof. Caucher Birkar (Fields medalist, 2018) has come on board in June 2021.
The training mode, curriculum design, and teaching methodologies are based on those of world-class universities like Harvard, Princeton, Université Pierre-et-Marie-Curie, and Université Paris-Sud. This program offers rich core specialization courses and particularly designed frontier courses. ram offers rich core specialization courses and specifically designed frontier courses. YMSC has been running a rigorous visitor program with many seminar courses at the cutting edge of research offered by mathematicians all over the world. Students have the opportunities to attend both lectures/courses by top international visitors on campus, at the Beijing Institute of Mathematical Sciences and Applications (BIMSA), a large scale research institute in applied mathematics led by Prof. Yau, and attend conferences held at Tsinghua Sanya International Mathematics Forum (TSIMF), a world-class mathematical forum like Banff International Research Station.

Department of Mathematical Science accepts bachelor degree holders to pursue doctoral degrees. Bachelor degree holders for doctoral program application must meet all the uniform requirements of the university, as well as the requirements of this school/department listed below:
1. The Minimum Requirement of Undergraduate Average scores: B+ or 85/100；
2. Proficiency in English is required.
