Overview
The School of Vehicle and Mobility is a CRADLE for China to cultivate high-level and high-quality automotive engineering science, technology and management talents and a KEY BASE for China to conduct scientific research and technological development in vehicle-related fields. The school currently has 86 faculty and staff members, including 30 professors and 33 associate professors. It is composed of four institutes, i.e., Institute of Vehicle Propulsion System Engineering, Institute of Automotive Engineering, Institute of Intelligent Mobility, and Institute of Special Vehicle and Engine. SVM has first class faculty, conducts research targeted at frontiers of the academic and industry, and provides excellent education opportunities for both Chinese and international students. More than just academics, a SVM education prepares you to make the most of life.
Highlights
—— SVM has built a distinguished faculty workforce with international and diversified educational backgrounds and top-level academics. SVM is the home to 3 Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Sciences, 1 Fellow of the American American Academy of Arts and Sciences, over 10 international visiting professors and senior visiting scholars and honored with state-level talent titles at least 30 times. It has 3 Fellows of SAE International, 9 Fellows of SAE-China as well as 2 Presidents of FISITA, an honor with the greatest international influence in auto industrial and academic fields
—— Adequate number of high-quality & multi-disciplinary curricula delivered in English. SVM offers 13 English-taught courses covering a wide range of areas in mechanical engineering and power engineering, including: Vehicle Control Engineering, Automotive Engineering I, Automotive Engineering II, Fundamentals of Lightweight Design, Materials Selection in Mechanical Design, Vehicle NVH (Noise/Vibrations/Harshness), Fundamentals of Automotive Crash Safety, Internal Combustion Engines I, Internal Combustion Engines II, Alternative Vehicle Propulsion System, Mechatronic Systems in Automotive Engineering, Detonation in Gases, Electrochemical Methods: Measurement and Simulation, etc.
—— Full range of teaching and research platforms. Teaching platforms include the Laboratory of Automobile Transmission and Control, Laboratory of Automobile NVH, Laboratory of New Energy Power System, Laboratory of Automotive Mechatronics, etc. These platforms can provide students with great opportunities for hands-on experimental learning. Besides, students can enter the research groups led by their supervisors. Supervisors and students (both Chinese students and international students) work together on the most advanced automotive technologies, such as energy conservation and new energy vehicle, advanced engine and turbo power systems, intelligent vehicles and intelligent transportation systems, vehicle dynamics and control, vehicle design and vehicle safety, automotive industry and system engineering, etc.
—— Extensive network with industry: SVM has established cooperation channels with most of the well-known automotive enterprises both at home and abroad. Close contact with the enterprises provides students with opportunities for internships and employment after graduation.
