Overview
The Department of Mathematical Sciences of Tsinghua University was founded in 1927, which has a long and impressive history. Currently, there are three research groups within the Department of Mathematical Sciences: Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics and Probability Statistics, and Computational Mathematics and Operational Research.
Highlights
The department was granted the right to award doctoral degrees in mathematics in 2000 and was granted the right in statistics in 2011. According to the QS world university rankings, mathematics major at Tsinghua University has ranked consistently high for the last 4 years. The mathematics major of Tsinghua University is also top-ranked according to many other international and domestic rankings. The department started to award doctoral degrees in mathematics from 2000 and in statistics from 2011. Tsinghua University has ranked 20 in the subject of mathematics according to the 2020 QS world university rankings.

Department of Mathematical Science accepts bachelor degree holders to pursue doctoral degrees. Bachelor degree holders for doctoral program application must meet all the uniform requirements of the university, as well as the requirements of this school/department listed below:
1. The Minimum Requirement of Undergraduate Average scores: B+ or 85/100；
2. Applicants of this school/department can be exempt from the HSK certificates, however, non-native English Speakers must meet the minimum English proficiency requirement: TOEFL:80/IELTS:6.5 or some other relative language report with equal authenticity.
